Tonight, I'm a rock and roll star
So, it's been a while since I wrote anything on here, but I can assure you - this outfit is definitely worth the wait! I truly value every individual factor of this outfit and together they create a look I am so happy with and proud of. Not to mention, this is my first post where I have had the honour of being photographed by an actual film camera, and not just my trusty old iPhone. My lovely work mate and friend Kwame is an absolute God behind the camera and I have finally gotten round to convince him to take a few snaps for my blog, and I am very grateful indeed!
So without further a do, let's get down to the nitty gritty - the outfit. Last week, I took a trip to Manchester for a few reasons, mainly to meet up with one of my lovely Insta gals for the first time and have a few drinks. However, I can't be expected to visit the lovely city of Manchester without an impromptu shopping trip thrown in too, right? And what a successful shopping trip it was! I love visiting other cities to go shopping because although Leeds is great for shopping, working in retail (in the city centre itself) takes a lot of novelty away from visiting the shops in Leeds. Visiting Manchester still fills me with excitement because there are so many corners I have not yet discovered, and the stores themselves are colossal compared to those of my hometown.
My biggest prime example of this is & Other Stories. I find our store in Leeds very unpredictable, sometimes I go in there and struggle to keep my money in my purse. Other times, I visit twice, even three times in a row and struggle to find anything that takes my interest. This wasn't the case, however, when I entered the Manchester store, oh no! Immediately requiring my attention, positioned directly in front of the main doors were these statement trousers. Can any of you guess why? You all know my love for all things leopard right now, and these trousers have such a modern take on the classic print. Not to mention the vibrant colour, made even more eye-catching by the fact they are corduroy! They just provide you with so many reasons to fall in love.
Next up, we simply can't ignore this jacket! The story behind buying this is quite bizarre, and came to me in a dream in which I was searching all night for the perfect leather jacket. As soon as I woke up that morning I was straight onto the internet, searching for a dreamy (literally) biker jacket. It certainly is a statement piece, but I'm definitely not the type to do things in halves. It has everything you could ever need in a biker jacket: studs? Check. Tassels? Check. Shiny diamantes? CHECK! The whole thing has a very Brandon Flowers circa 2009 vibe to it, and I'm feeling that rockstar / cowboy / glam-rock bad ass is the look I am going for throughout the rest of 2018.
It's crazy how wearing a certain outfit can change the way you feel about yourself and carry yourself, but this outfit did - power dressing at its finest! Even the most plain of outfits can upgrade in sass levels by throwing on a jacket like this and I couldn't recommend investing in one for the upcoming seasons. There are unlimited options of events or places I can go in this outfit, date night, going to a gig, or even on a night out I feel it would be suitable for all. The only downfall is that I shot these photographs in the current heatwave that still has a hold of the UK, and was absolutely dying in the hot weather. Should I feel a little bit guilty about wishing the time away to those cooler nights and layering season? For now though, the hot weather is not going to stop me rocking this jacket with pretty much all of my outfits, so here it is, shiny and brand new, before you all get absolutely sick of it!
I hope you're all as much of a fan of this look as I am!
