Hades x The Cure: A Collaboration That's Just Like Heaven
Welcome to a new post, one that I have been very excited about for a while. By now, you should have heard about the collaboration of the year: between my favourite knitwear company, Hades, alongside no other than The Cure's Robert Smith. If you haven't heard about it yet - where have you been?
Late last month, Hades announced a four-piece collection of knits, every alternative and gothic lover's dream! Hades are known for their super-cosy pure lambswool knitwear, as well as their always 10/10 collaborations. Since I purchased one of the pieces from their collaboration with X Ray Spex earlier in the year (featured in this post here) it was only a matter of time before my collection grew and grew...
This specific collection, however, is even more special to me as I had the absolute pleasure of working with Hades on the photo shoot. Being asked along to be photographed for the Cure collection was honestly one of the most exciting things to happen to me this year (if not ever!) and I still can't really believe that it happened. Seeing myself feature on the web page of one of my favourite brands is a real 'pinch me' moment, it's crazy. Having no professional experience of having my photographs taken, I was so nervous the whole time, but everyone made me feel much calmer and like I was doing a good job, which was lovely. This was also the first time that I got to see the jumpers in person, and they were even more amazing than I could have imagined. Although I had seen photographs of them online previously, when I pre-ordered one of them, it couldn't compare to seeing them in the flesh, and of course, being able to try them on!

For my makeup for the shoot, I was given a very Siouxie Sioux style look, with bold black eyebrows and rosey pink cheeks. Believe it or not, this was actually the first time I'd ever had my makeup done by someone else, and I wish someone would volunteer to apply my makeup every morning. As I mentioned, I had already pre-ordered the red and black striped jumper from the collection, however I wore this baby pink knit for the shoot and absolutely fell in love. Most of you will know my love for pink by now, and that it was a no-brainer that this colourway would also end up in my wardrobe.
Because of the soft, baby pink colour of the jumper, of course I had to toughen it up a little by adding some animal print and a PVC trouser. These trousers are another recent addition to my wardrobe, another lucky Depop find that happen to fit me just spot-on for the amazing price of only £10! I've been on the hunt for a pair of these trousers for such a long time, yet I didn't want to make the purchase until I found the pair that was exactly right for me - and being patient seems to have paid off with these. Although it does take a little longer to find what you like when using Depop, I think the reward is so much greater, knowing that you have shopped in a sustainable way and given an unwanted item another lease of life. These trousers will pair perfectly with almost everything I have already in my wardrobe, so I know that buying them was a good decision.
If you have been debating whether to try a jumper from Hades, I can not recommend it enough. I've had a lot of questions over on Instagram from people who are considering purchasing one of the knits themselves, asking if I think they are worth it. To that I say: absolutely yes! Personally, I have a large (and ever expanding) knitwear collection, and my pieces from Hades are definitely at the top for me, in terms of value for money, quality and uniqueness. If you're also a big fan of the Cure, I say definitely consider picking up a piece from the collection, you certainly won't regret it. The Cure's percentage of the profits from this collection will be used to donate to a great cause: Doctors Without Borders.
Thank you for reading my post, I hope you are in love with the Hades collection as much as I am - I'm sure you will be. Again, it was such an honour to be asked to work with them and to own more top-quality pieces from such a great brand.
Until next time,
