Hello everyone and a very belated "Happy New Year" to you all! I hope you had a great one; mine was very chilled out and relaxed this year - which actually I am thankful for. Working in retail has its ups and downs, with the Christmas period being demanding and busy at times. However, working throughout the holidays means there is no 'back to work' dread which looms over most of us at the start of January, so I have entered the New Year feeling somewhat optimistic and raring to go.
With that in mind, I decided that now is a better time than ever to get back into the habit of blogging regularly (Goal #1) by chatting a little about what I plan to achieve in this new year. I never really tend to give myself a New Year's Resolution, rather a few small things to aim for throughout the year: aiming to continually better myself right up until next year!
#1 - Blog regularly
As previously mentioned, my first goal is for Go Ask Ellice to have a little more action that it has been receiving in the past few months. Most people who have ever attempted to run a blog will agree that life always gets in the way, and you're left feeling guilty that you haven't posted in a while. I can't promise that this will not be the case this year, but I want to try and make much more of a conscious effort to post as often as possible - even if it's just a quick life update here and there. Some of the more observant of you may have realised I have updated the 'Music' tab on the homepage with the top albums of 2019 that I think are worth taking about. (You can find parts One and Two here). For those who are interested, I would love to post 'short but sweet' album updates every so often throughout the year also!
#2 - Master makeup
2019 was the year I really delved into makeup (particularly eyeshadow) and was gifted my very first Jeffree Star Alien palette. Some might say this was the gateway to a whole new world, as I have been obsessed ever since. Currently, my spare time is spent trawling YouTube for eyeshadow tutorials and reviews and attempting them myself. I certainly have no aim to become an MUA, but to be able to master a few expertly applied makeup looks by the end of the year is definitely something I am aiming for.
#3 - Pole dance
From following my Instagram, you will know that I have been attending pole dance classes for almost a year now and look forward to my lesson every single week! By capturing my achievements on the pole throughout the year, I really want to push myself in 2020 and accomplish even more. By the end of the year I want to have nailed as many positions as possible, and booked myself onto a photoshoot. I know, scary right? Professional pole dance photographs truly show the strength and beauty of the exercise, as well as painting a totally bad-ass picture of how far you have come since the start. Abs: here I come!
#4 - Avoid change
My fourth, and final goal may seem like a bit of a strange one. 2019 was a year of so many big life changes, I struggled to actually sit back, relax and appreciate the good things. Having a lot of bad luck career-wise has made me crave some stability for at least the next year, if not more! At the end of 2019, I bagged myself a great job with Paul Smith: a positive ending after leaving three jobs previously that year. The year just flew by, never giving me time to de-stress and leaving me on edge a lot of the time. Leaving all of that behind me, 2020 is about self-care, stability and staying put!
There we have the list of things I wish to achieve this year! It can be easy for us to get carried away, conjuring up lists a mile long of unachievable targets, but where is the fun in that? Taking a lot of the pressure off that I tend to put on myself is what I plan to do this year - and enjoy myself while I am at it. I hope you can all have fun whilst ticking off your bucket lists this year too!
Thanks for taking the time to listen to me ramble on, speak soon
